Kids Summer Camp

Pack for Sleepaway Camp

Summer is an exciting time of year, especially for kids who are on a break from school until September. There is a lot to look forward to when planning for summer – ice cream, beach days and playing with friends at the pool. Some lucky children even get to go to summer camp! However, it’s not always easy to know what to wear and what to bring to camp.

Whether your child is attending day camp or sleepaway camp they are going to need many clothing options. It is important to have the necessary footwear to stay active during camp activities. A durable and stylish pair of sneakers is a good place to start. We recommend the Old Soles Tweak Kids Shoes, or the Veja V-12 Jade Kids Sneakers. Another necessary type of footwear your child will want for camp is a comfortable pair of sandals. Whether they prefer slides or flip flops these options will have them covered to go to the beach, pool, or lake. We recommend the North Face Base Camp Kids Slides, the Havaianas Brazil Kids Flip Flops, or the Roxy Tahiti Palm Flip Flops.

In order to have the most stylish and comfortable outfits ready for summer camp, we recommend planning ahead. Every kid needs a few staple t-shirts for camp. For girls, we love the O’Neill Kids Boxy Cut Lucky Butterfly Shirt, the North Face Purple Mountains Shirt, and the Imoga Amita Zebra Oatmeal Shirt. For boys, we love the Hatley Treasure Map Shirt, the Rylee + Cru Basic Surfin’ Safari Shirt and the RVCA Ollie Color Block Shirt. Kids can never have too many t-shirts in the summertime!

The summer is generally warm and comfortable temperature wise, but you should always be prepared for a chillier day. You’ll never regret having a pair or sweatpants and a sweatshirt packed for your little one to cozy up in if they need to. We recommend the Munster Kids Jump Jump Hoody, the Nununu Star Sweatshirt or the Splendid Sweet Leo Sweatshirt.

There are many other items that should be included in a child’s backpack when heading off to camp. Sunscreen is the most important thing to remember; protecting your kids’ skin from harmful rays is crucial. They also might need a towel, bug spray and a favorite blanket to cozy up in. Now we are ready to head off to camp and enjoy the summer!
